Tributyl borate is a colorless clear liquid that decomposes rapidly when exposed to water. It can be obtained by the reaction of butanol and H3BO3.

Application:

Tributyl borate is an intermediate for preparing boron hydride compounds. It is used to prepare semiconductor components. It can also be used to synthesize semiconductor boron diffusion sources, fire retardant adhesives and anhydrous system desiccants. In addition, it can also be used as a polymer additive and gasoline additive. , sterilants, flame retardants, automobile brake fluids and special surfactants, used in synthetic rubber additives, lubricating oil additives, semiconductor boron diffusion agents, fire retardants, adhesives, anhydrous system dehydration desiccants, etc. The range of applications is very wide.

Chemical properties:

Colorless liquid. Melting point -70℃, boiling point 232.4℃, 105.2℃ (1.2kPa), relative density 0.85 (28/11℃), refractive index 1.4071 (25℃), flash point 93℃. Easily soluble in methanol, esters, acetylacetone and carbon tetrachloride, and soluble in ethanol. It reacts quickly when exposed to water.
